Magic Moments
One of the best things about a vacation is the photographs we bring home. Whenever we feel the need they are at ready to transport us back to those happy moments in time. Our trip to Disneyland last month was short but sweet and I'm slowly editing the many moments we captured while we were there...here's a few for you to enjoy over the weekend!
Images 1-4 and 7 are by my husband, Chris, and 5 and 6 were from my camera lens.

Happy New Year!
Starting off 2010 on a more personal note! Thanks to my Kaboodle buddy--xOxsharicexOx, I borrowed the idea for this post from her fun Kaboodle blogazine. Maybe you've been reading my blog(s) for awhile, but maybe you're new to these parts. I write and share about many things outside the personal realm--photography, design, art, travel, food--and decided it's time for

Red, but I recently added blonde highlights {not shown in photo above} and it's FUN!
What is your ethnicity?
Caucasion - we hail from English, French, German and Scottish.
Where do you live?
Portland, Oregon, USA - aka PDX, Stumptown, P-town
Style stuff:
What is your favorite online shopping website?
Etsy wins hands-down, but I'm biased since I operate a vintage shop there! Kaboodle has become a fave haunt as well, especially since I started a blog there last summer.
How would you describe your fashion style?
Comfort is key over most else. I love style and fashion but I don't feel the need to wear the latest--in fact, since I started hunting/selling vintage I rather prefer a classic style. I love the originality and quirkiness that vintage offers modern shoppers. Also love finding steal deals at local thrift shops!
What's your favorite shoe style?
I am a sneaker girl--backless, laceless, slip-on Ryka's have been my go-to shoe for 3 years now since an ankle injury. I love cute shoes but, again, comfort wins me over every time. Love, love, love boots!

What is your favorite food?
Italian, BBQ, Sushi, Seafood, Veggies, Fruits...
What is your favorite drink?
Alcohol = Sea breeze Non = H2O
What is your favorite color?
I'm such a closet fan of RED, haha! Also love metallics and rich, warm earthy colors.

Baked fruit desserts -- crumble toppings are so divine!

New pastures, new passions
SHOP CLOSING
After much consideration Chris and I have decided to close our photography shop--Pfeiffer Photos--on Etsy at the end of August. The sales haven't been coming for some time, and our promotion level has dropped due to pursuits of other projects so it's on to other pastures and passions for now. We're still taking photos--no loss of interest there--and we'll keep sharing them on Flickr so check our our gallery over there and become a contact so we can enjoy your photos, too!
Pfeiffer Photos has been a good adventure for us and we value all the nice people we've met through Etsy and beyond. Our photography has improved much, we've learned a lot about running a small business, and most all of we've made some great friends--on Etsy, Flickr, Facebook, Twitter and especially through the Pfeiffer Photos blog.
We're still answering Etsy convos (until end of Aug), and email inquiries (click the icon in the right margin of this blog) so don't hesitate to drop us a note.
Our photo note cards are now available only upon request. Please send us a message with the title of the image and quantity you desire and we'll create a custom listing for you on Etsy through the end of August 09. After that, please view our images and send requests through our Flickr Gallery or via email link on this blog.

I'm still here...the posts have been fewer just because I'm on a bit of a hiatus to enjoy some summer activities before I start school again in the fall.

On a more personal note...

Etsy: New in shop 4.22.09
It's a new series of images in my Etsy shop--just posted tonight! The Monticello Antique Mall is hands-down one of my favorite places to visit here in Portland. These new photos, like all of our items, are available as prints (variety of sizes) *OR* blank note cards.
Prefer a larger size? Need it framed? Shipped as a gift? Want it mailed to someone outside the states? Just ask!
These feminine images look glorious in the black mats we include with our prints, and they would be fantastic as a set of cards. You know...to keep in touch with your girlfriends, mail to your mom {Mother's Day is May 10th} or just keep 'em for yourself to enjoy!

tina's whimsy revisited
I have always been an artist. Before I fell in love with photography, I tried a bit of many mediums. Drawing, watercolor, rubber stamp art, decoupage, assemblage, jewelry design, and my eventual favorite, collage.

Love Many Things, 4" x 10" - Original Collage on Canvas Board
Techniques of collage, were first used at the time of the invention of paper in China around 200 BC. The use of collage, however, remained very limited until the 10th century in Japan, when calligraphers began to apply glued paper, using texts on surfaces, when writing their poems.

Inspire, 2.5" x 3.5" - ACEO Collage, Open Edition
The technique of collage appeared in medieval Europe during the 13th century. Gold leaf panels started to be applied in Gothic cathedrals around the 15th and 16th centuries. Gemstones and other precious metals were applied to religious images, icons, and also, to coats of arms.

Life Requires Beauty - 2.5 x 3.5 ACEO Collage, Open Edition
In the 19th century, collage methods also were used among hobbyists for memorabilia (i.e. applied to photo albums) and books (i.e. Hans Christian Andersen, Carl Spitzweg).
The term collage derives from the French "coller" meaning "glue". This term was coined by both Georges Braque and Pablo Picasso in the beginning of the 20th century when collage became a distinctive part of modern art.[1]

I used to offer my collage work in an Etsy shop, known as tina's whimsy. I sold a handful of my items in the two years that the shop was alive online but then I discovered I was spending far more time trying to sell and less and less on the process of creation. And so I stopped altogether--the selling and the creating.
The pieces displayed in this post are a handful of my collage works from 2004-2007. I plan to begin some new work in 2009, and would love your comments on these. Let me know if you'd like to see more and I will include them in a future post...thanks!
